The community of Roccantica is 16,7 qkm . The small romantic village is about 1 hour from ROM in the Sabina-mountains 457 m over the sea-level. It's already mentioned in a document of 840. The tower Nicolo II was built for defence in 970. Roccantica became famous by Angelo Roncalli, who studied in the roman seminary. The 12.09.1960 he came back to Roccantica as pope Giovanni XXII.
